Imagine, getting the most out of your holidays, mitigating stress, and experiencing more joy.
I think it is fair to say that most of us have been there, planning our holiday trip to meet family; for some of us the idea of this generates a little stress or anxiety, and the trip hasn't even started. Maybe were concerned about who the company is going to be, and we are already planning what to say and not to say. I know this isn't the case for all families, but for those of you that this does resonate with, how would you feel if you were able to mitigate some of that stress, actually feel like your on a holiday, and experience more joy.
The fact is you work hard, and you deserve to experience the holidays as you see fit. Some individuals feel obligated to participate in seasonal gatherings, knowing deep in their core they would rather be somewhere else. Some individuals anticipate arguments, or some other conflict only to make their holiday a little less joyful. What if I was to tell you that all of the above stated is a choice, and you can choose joy?
Lets start with obligation, for those of you that feel that you "have to" or "need to" participate in holiday gatherings; if you feel this way, you are most likely compromising what would bring joy into your holiday. Ponder, have a think, how would you like to spend your holiday? What would make your holiday meaningful? The idea is to have a stress free holiday, and be fully engaged into the season. It's okay to spend your holiday the way you want, remember you are not accountable for the feelings of others, it's a matter of giving yourself permission.
For those of you who are joining family gatherings for the holidays, and anticipate a little stress, here are some tips that can help you get the most out of your earned time off:
