Getting out of a rut requires a "Mindset Reboot."
Loss of productivity, creation, motivation, and an overall sense of feeling like "blah", are mostly likely signs that a reboot in mindset is required. Breaking out of routine and creating new habits may just be the strategy in creating new growth.
I can't emphasize enough the importance of self-care. The truth is that when we are feeling good, we are more productive, motivated, and can access our creative channels with a little more ease. So what can we do externally to reboot our mindset?
Externally there are many things we can do to aid in our self-care. Unplug from the digital world for a while, I know easier said than done, but if possible this gives the mind a chance to breathe and de-clutter. Spend some time in nature, when we allow our senses to return to their natural state of experiencing the world around us, we develop a deep connection to the simplicity of our life; for example, feeling the warmth of the Sun, listening to a breeze through the trees, breathing in fresh air, and feeling our feet firmly planted on the Earth. We can also spend time with our friends, go have a beer, have lunch, commit to an early morning coffee with someone; this rejuvenates balance in our social dimension. These are just a few external ideas, but think of something that works for you. What can we do internally to reboot our mindset?
Internally is really about our thoughts and taking the time to honor what we are thinking and feeling. When challenged with a fear-based thought, or personal judgments, take a moment and analyze what those thoughts are truly saying to you. If those thoughts are responsible for blocking your progress, re-frame them. Choose thoughts that redirect your behavior, removing the block, and begin gaining momentum in the direction your going. Another internal action we can take, which is my favorite, meditation. Whether it is five minutes or ninety minutes, this act in self-care is powerful. Meditation reduces stress, provides pathways toward connecting to something bigger than ourselves, and de-clutters the mind.
There are a multitude of resources available relating toward rebooting our mindset, but these are just a few. The mind is so powerful, it creates the world around us, and when we find ourselves in a rut, that is the universal sign, telling us that a change in our life is worth exploring.
