When we resonate at a low level energy, we tend to feel victim to environmental circumstances. Are you ready to learn a philosophy that will elevate you out of this lower level space?

Low level energy is that energy which leaves us feeling sad, depressed, stressed, fatigued,  creating a  thought process of "why is this happening to me, they did this to me, this always happens to me, there is nothing I can do about this, etc." When we feel this way, we respond from a space of self-pity, isolation with little to no engagement with others; our productivity dissipates, and we become lethargic in our behavior. There is no right or wrong with this low level energy, it is more a matter of how sustainable is it to continue to feel this way, and how it is affecting our overall progress in life. So how do we crawl out of this space?

I would like to introduce, if you are not already familiar, stoic philosophy. The stoics are known for creating a philosophy which leads toward living the good life, and removing ourselves from destructive behavior; this philosophy addresses worry/fear, providing the mental mapping process of realizing what we have control of and what we do not have control of. So the idea is not necessarily get you to agree or disagree with this philosophy, but encourage you to take an objective look into it and perhaps adopt elements that may work for you.

We can think positively all day, read affirmations from our desktops, and still may wonder why we still feel this low level energy. We begin to start seeing movement and results when we actually walk the walk. Embodying the philosophy is what actually allows us to start living it, eliminating worry, fear, and blame.

So, lets transition from victim to freedom, the following are some quotes from some of these amazing Greek philosophers:
  • Epictetus discusses what is in our control and our of our control, this also relates to addressing worry, fear, and anxiety:
    • "There is only one way to happiness and that is to cease worrying about things which are beyond the power of our will." We are in control of our thoughts, behaviors, actions, and how we respond.
    • "Man is not worried by real problems so much as by his imagined anxieties about real problems." We sometimes put ourselves through unnecessary stress/anxiety by focusing on what has not even occurred in our lives, something that does or may not even exist. We actually choose to think a certain way,
    • "Any person capable of angering you becomes your master; he can anger you only when you permit yourself to be disturbed by him." We cannot control the actions of others or outcomes, we are only in control of ourselves and what we do. When we allow others to anger us, we relinquish our authority, we place authority on their words, actions, and behaviors.
  • Seneca discusses happiness, suffering, and getting the most of our lives:
    • "As is a tale, so is life: not how long it is, but how good it is, is what matters". This really resonates with me, how often do we connect to happiness throughout our days, what are we chasing, the one thing that we cannot escape is death, so it is this present moment that is the most important.
    • " It is not that we have so little time but that we lose so much... The life we receive is not short but we make it so, we are not ill-provided but use what we have wastefully." Our mind is so powerful, changing the way we view ourselves, and the world can launch us into leading a happier life, a life away from victim and into freedom.
    • "There are more things that frighten us than injure us, and we suffer more in imagination than in reality." Fear sinks its teeth into our core, keeping us from making the progress that we desire, the fact is we get in our own way more often than not.

These were just a few words of two stoic philosophers, in conclusion it is a matter of embodying the philosophy and living it. It can be extremely difficult to pull ourselves out of that victim mindset; however, the more we build this framework of highly effective thinking, the easier it will be to pull ourselves out of that low level energy.
