As we navigate through our daily lives, we experience a consistent change in emotional energy. Some days we show up firing on all cylinders, more productive, and with higher morale. On other days we may show up feeling completely behind the power curve, not as productive, stressed, and fatigued. If we ponder a thought on both of these examples, transport ourselves to a similar time, and we can see how we have showed up with two very different energy levels. Lets explore this the different energy levels, and perhaps arm ourselves with some concepts that will enable us to be more engaged in our lives.
In the book "Energy Leadership" by Dr. Bruce D. Schnieder, he discusses two different types of energy, catabolic and anabolic energy. Catabolic energy is that very low level energy, it is very destructive, stripping us of our health and preventing us from reaching our full potential; some of the characteristics of catabolic energy are stress, fatigue, depression, anger, worry, fear, and the list can go on. Anabolic energy is a much higher energy, it is a very constructive energy allowing us to tap into our creative process, build effective consensus among teams, maintain healthier relationships, and reach our greatest potential; some of the characteristics of anabolic energy are happiness, joy, forgiveness, cooperation, and again the list can go on.
So what does this mean to you? When we are aware of the energy that holds us back from reach our full potential, we allow ourselves to reframe more effective means of letting go of that catabolic energy, propelling us toward achieving what is most important to us. Some of the first signs of catabolic energy present themselves in the form of thoughts, "I am not good enough, or I am not educated enough", stopping us in our tracks only to prevent us from moving in our favored direction. When we release this low level energy, and begin to raise our energy toward the anabolic end of the spectrum, not only do we begin to feel better, we show up in our relationships, careers, and communities with a healthier much more effective means of establishing desired results. We begin to step out of existing in life and truly living life.
Live as the best version of yourself.
